Setup guide
How to Install eSIM
Install the eSIM on stable Wi-Fi before your flight, then switch it on for mobile data when you arrive in Thailand.
Updated September 2026Before you start
- Confirm that your device supports eSIM and is not locked to one carrier.
- Keep the provider’s QR code or manual activation details open on another device.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and do not delete the eSIM after installation.
- Check when your chosen provider starts the plan — on installation or when it first connects in Thailand.
Install an eSIM on iPhone
- 01
Open Cellular settings
Go to Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data, then tap Add eSIM or Set Up Cellular.
- 02
Scan the provider QR code
Choose Use QR Code and scan the code supplied after purchase. If you cannot scan it, choose Enter Details Manually and use the activation information from the provider.
- 03
Add and name the plan
Follow the prompts to download the eSIM. Give it a clear label such as “Thailand” so it is easy to distinguish from your home SIM.
- 04
Keep your home number for calls
Leave your primary SIM as the default voice and messaging line. Select the Thailand eSIM for Cellular Data and turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off to avoid roaming on the wrong line.
- 05
Activate after arrival
Open the new eSIM line, turn it on, enable Data Roaming for that line, and confirm that it is selected for Cellular Data. Wait a few minutes for the local network to connect.
Install an eSIM on Android
Menu names vary by manufacturer. The two common paths are shown below.
- 01
Open SIM settings
On Google Pixel, go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs. On Samsung Galaxy, go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager.
- 02
Choose to add an eSIM
Tap Add SIM or Add eSIM, then choose Download a SIM instead? or Scan QR code, depending on your phone.
- 03
Scan or enter the details
Scan the provider QR code. If offered, use Enter activation code or Enter details manually instead.
- 04
Name the eSIM
Label the new line “Thailand” and keep your physical SIM selected for calls and SMS unless you intentionally want to change it.
- 05
Activate after arrival
Turn the Thailand eSIM on, select it for Mobile data, and enable roaming for this eSIM only. Disable mobile data on your home SIM if you want to eliminate accidental roaming.
Troubleshooting
If it does not connect
- Turn airplane mode on for 20 seconds, then turn it off.
- Confirm that the travel eSIM is selected for mobile data and that data roaming is enabled on that line.
- Restart the phone and check the provider’s APN instructions.
- Do not delete the eSIM — contact the provider first, because many QR codes can be installed only once.
